A legend said " If you trust about a person, when full moon appear and if you under the . This tension puts Eren and Mikasa's new relationship to the test. For instance, Mikasa only said around words in the Return to Shiganshina arc. I divided her characterization into 3 parts: Mikasa lived with her parents on a remote location in the mountains.
So when she lost them, she literally lost everything, and she thought that the place without her Mom and Dad is too cold for her to survive. After Eren saved Mikasa from kidnappers, Mikasa looked like an empty shell.
However, there was one person who knew how Eren felt - Armin. Eren passed the test, and Armin guessed correctly what his eyes were saying: So a more accurate translation would be: How about that, Mikasa! So at this point, Mikasa had her own personal beliefs about who Eren is that were very inaccurate. Those beliefs would slowly but steadily brake as the story progressed. But as soon as Eren got into a fight with Jean, Mikasa intervened: In ch50 she finally wanted to portray that to Eren.
So she gave up on life, and wanted to use what she thought was her last chance to tell Eren how she feels.EREN & MIKASA'S RELATIONSHIP EXPLAINED - BF & GF? Or? Attack On Titan -
She thanked him for wrapping his scarf around her, and it seemed that she leaned in for a kiss, though Eren avoided it, and instead said that he can wrap her in a scarf as many times as he needs to.
Mikasa showed both familial, and romantic love to Eren. For Eren, scarf represent familial love, as it was after Eren gave Mikasa his scarf that Mikasa joined the Yeager family. However, a kiss represents romantic love. Eren avoided the kiss, and focused on the part about the scarf, showing her that he loves her as a family. After all, he understood very well that Franz and Hannah were a couple: By this point we already knew that Eren is someone who never gives up.
"Eren! Wake up!"
Hannes-san reminded us of that a few chapters earlier. He took this mantra in his own way, Armin never ran away from the bullies, and Eren never gave up. And at the end, he avoided her kiss.
Because, the person that she imagined Eren to be, and the person that Eren actually is, are quite different. Mikasa always thought that the special thing between Eren and her, was the fact that he saved her when they were kids.
Because he was her saviour, she convinced herself that they are meant to stay together forever. Eren proceeded to save other people as well.
He saved Armin in Trost, and later on, other th squad members started seeing him as their saviour too: In ch67, Sasha fell down on her knees and thanked Eren in tears. She already accepted that she was about to die, but thanks to Eren, she was still alive. Mikasa was no longer the only person Eren saved, and other people saw him as their saviour just like Mikasa did. Mikasa could see that Eren being her saviour was no longer a special thing just between Eren and her.
Before this, during the military training, she got jealous at Annie, when Annie and Eren were training, and tossed Reiner on her in order to separate them. Later on during the FT arc, she even asked Eren whether he has some special feelings for her.
Later on during the dinner, Eren started talking about the time when he ate his father, and Mikasa stopped him. She reminded him that Grisha was like a father to her as well: For the first time, Eren not only agreed with Mikasa, but also apologized to her. Eren said that he was caught up in pointless worrying, and that he was jealous at Mikasa: To Mikasa, this was surprising, as you can see by her reaction. Instead of being annoying to Eren, she started being supportive to him.
Mikasa used to ignore who Eren is, and instead created her own image of who she wants Eren to be, but she realized that Eren from her mind, and the real Eren, are different. Even Hange freaked out in ch89, and Armin had an explanation to what was happening to Eren. However, to Mikasa, Eren seemed fine: The idea that you should spend the rest of your life with someone, just because that person has saved you when you were kids is childish, and Mikasa was a child when she thought like that.
That kind of thinking slowly changed as Mikasa grew older, and developed as a person. After Carla died, Mikasa became overly-protective towards Eren, especially since the last thing Carla said to her, was to help Eren if he gets into trouble: As long as they live. She also said during the CoT arc that all she wants is to be close to Eren.
However, even though she spoke how Eren is everything to her, that she just wants to protect him, and be together with him, her actions sometimes spoke otherwise. Levi was beating Eren, and Mikasa was about to interfere, only to be stopped by Armin. Even though her interfering and attacking Levi, would put Eren in an even worse position, and could end up very bad for him, she still wanted to hurt Levi.
In the FT arc, we learned more about this. Levi told her to give up on killing the Female titan, and just prioritize on getting Eren back. During the fight, she thought she had an opening for a kill, and she went for it: Instead of just focusing on saving Eren, she prioritized killing the female titan.
Attack On Titan
Afterwards, Levi scolded her for that himself: She convinced herself that Eren is everything to her, and that she would do anything for him, but instead, she tried to satisfy her own desires, and kill the female titan.
In other words, the mission should simply be to get Eren back from them, and not try to kill them, but Mikasa was making the same mistake she did when her and Levi were fighting the FT. She wanted to kill them.
Erwin specifically said that the mission is to take Eren back and retreat immediately: Still, once more, Mikasa went for a kill against Bertolt, instead of just focusing on cutting the rope that tied Eren to Bertolt like Erwin did later on: There are many things that could have gone wrong for Eren if she actually cut Bertolt in this situation, cause Eren would still be tied to him.
But luckily, before things got worse, Jean intervened, and helped her. It is Armin and Erwin who managed to free Eren from Bertolt, Armin by distracting him, and Erwin by cutting the rope that tied Eren to him, something that Mikasa should have done when she had the chance. Because of her blunders, there were some drastic changes in her behavior after chapter 50, and she never made another blunder like that again.
In the Uprising arc, Mikasa allowed Levi to give Eren to the Reeves company, and even after Eren was captured by the Reiss family, she still proceeded to trust Levi, and continued to follow him: Eren relied on Armin to protect him, instead of Mikasa, when the stationary troops surrounded them, and Armin did.
She failed to protect him when fighting against the FT, and it was thanks to Levi that Eren was saved. She failed to save Eren when he was kidnapped by Bertolt and Reiner. It was only thanks to Armin and Erwin that Eren was released granted, Mikasa caught him afterwards. And she failed to protect him from the smiling titan, so Hannes-san intervened, and protected them. In fact, I would say that Eren loves Mikasa very much platonically and that she has a special place in his heart because she is arguably the most important woman in his life since the death of his mother and there are many instances of Eren caring about her well-being.
Eren desperately attempts to convince the crowd that Mikasa has nothing to do with his current state as a titan shifter Eren showing concern for Mikasa's health Whether or not Eren's feelings will develop into something more romantic is something that is yet to be seen. The first factor is Mikasa's bloodline. The Ackerman clan was literally bred to devote their lives protecting a "liege".
With this in mind, Mikasa's feelings really aren't that hard to believe once you consider that Eren is her liege and she is acting on instincts to protect him.
A Heroic Parallel, Part 2: Mikasa & Levi - I Just Keep Moving Forward
The second factor is that Eren is the person who saved her life and gave her a reason to keep living after the devastating event she experience as a child. Eren is quite literally her savior and she is repaying her debt to him the only way she knows how- by ensuring that he is protected and well taken care of. While it is in her instincts to protect Eren, I do think that Mikasa still holds feelings for him that go beyond their friendship and her instincts.
She blushed on multiple occasions when someone suggests that she and Eren are somehow romantically involved with each other and also tends to look rather menacing when it comes to Eren and other girls. Mikasa looking quite frightening when asking Eren why he hesitates to fight Annie Mikasa, again looking quite frightening when Historia and Eren are talking together Mikasa blushes when someone makes a comment about Eren being her "love" Take what you will from this But despite the way Mikasa feels towards Eren, I don't think that Mikasa will ever act on those personal romantic feelings unless it is what Eren wants.
Mikasa admits that all she wants is to be with Eren As his liege, Mikasa will be what Eren wants her to be, and if that means staying friends, she will remain his friend for as long as he wishes. Mikasa is bluntly telling Eren exactly how it is, despite knowing that Eren doesn't want to hear it-just like a true friend would or should at least lol. Then, Eren goes on to call Mikasa a bitch in his mind. Now, I don't know about y'all, but I surely do not refer to a my friends or someone that I like as a bitch.
But I would call my best friend a bitch in a heart beat if they were acting like one: The red scarf that Eren wraps around Mikasa after they defeat her attackers symbolizes the red string of fate, a belief that stems from an ancient Chinese myth that states that the gods "tie an invisible red cord around the ankles of those that are destined to meet one another in a certain situation or help each other in a certain way".
Traditionally and in modern context, the red string is used to identify two people destined to be lovers. The red scarf symbolizes that Eren and Mikasa were destined to meet and hints that they are destined to be lovers, but at this point in time there is not enough evidence to support that they will be able to fully establish and develop a relationship with Eren still being rather immature and also dying in less 3 years Mikasa reminding Eren of how important he is to her Mikasa emphasizes the red scarf, a symbol of the red string of fate Eren regains the courage to continue fighting thanks to Mikasa Conclusion Overall, Mikasa and Eren hold a really strong bond with each other and have a solid foundation that could support a successful romantic relationship.
But as of right now, Mikasa and Eren are just close childhood friends who want nothing more than to make to the end of this journey together with Armin of course haha. Only time will tell how Isayama will let Mikasa and Eren's relationship develop and I look forward to seeing how he decides where to take these two. I also think that there is a possibility that when Eren grows older he may develop feelings for her because lets face it, boys can be really dumb when it comes to their feelings for girls and Eren would be no exception.
That simply isn't true. While Mikasa cares for Eren the most, and for good cause, she cares for her other teammates as well. She has saved Sasha, Jean, Armin and others from harm and doesn't hesitate to do so. I think this is due in part to the fact that the anime tends to make things more EreMika centric-often by editing scenes between Eren and Armin to be with Eren and Mikasa and overall focusing her dialogue on Eren.
- Part 1: The familial/romantic aspect of Mikasa’s relationship with Eren.
- Part 2: Mikasa’s actions and thoughts regarding Eren’s safety.
I suggest reading the manga if you want to fully experience everything Mikasa's character has to offer: While I do casually ship EreMika, I think the two of them remaining friends would be a nice touch for the series.
